Be True to Yourself

When we think about being true to ourselves, values like integrity, honesty, and sincerity typically come to mind. We each have unwavering principles and strive to live up to our own standards.

It’s usually easy to tell when we are around people who are true to themselves. They tend to be positive, healthy, strong, peaceful, and happy. Being true to oneself is a good thing.

If you’d like to work on being true to yourself, here are three simple ways to begin:

  1. Being true to ourselves starts with knowing who we are and accepting ourselves. Reflect upon and list your strengths, passions, limitations, and goals for life.
  2. Using the list above, consider how you can best utilize your strengths and passions, keeping in mind your limitations, to make progress towards your life purpose and goals.
  3. You have the total power to live your life any way you want. It is up to you to be faithful and factual to the truth about you.

Remember: Being true to ourselves is a personal choice for truth; it involves making choices about how we want to live, and holding ourselves accountable to those standards. We don’t worry about pleasing other people or living by their standards.

No one can tell you how to be true to yourself except you!
